Frequently Asked Questions
Every Drop Matters (EDM) operates out of Champaign, Illinois a community with unique international ties due to the presence of the University of Illinois. Randy Graham, EDM’s founder, has lived in Champaign for over 40 years and has developed relationships around the world. His son, Aaron, also assists. Typically the units are delivered personally by volunteer couriers traveling to the recipient from Illinois. At other times the units are shipped. In those situations, recipients can learn how to use the units through our YouTube videos, and we are also available to answer questions via email. (https://bporter238.wixsite.com/everydrop/contact)
In short – essentially all of it. The founders do not draw a salary, and EDM currently operates with an all-volunteer staff. Setup and administrative costs are paid personally by the founder and other board members. If hiring becomes necessary in the future all details will be fully disclosed. Our goal is to earn your trust through transparency and honesty. We know you have many choices for your charitable donations. We hope you will join us because we are committed to this endeavor with our own resources and will always use the resources entrusted to us as effectively and efficiently as possible.
Most of our recipients are connected to a power grid. In the United States the units plug into a standard 120v outlet. A simple travel converter makes it possible to use our units virtually anywhere in the world. For those not connected to a power grid, these can also be easily adapted for solar powered operation. This lets us take our units anywhere in the world regardless of available infrastructure. These units cost twice as much as our standard units, but they offer unparalleled versatility.
We are serving 32 countries with over 100 units deployed worldwide.
Impact Example: ONE of our units is serving a school in Uganda that provides clean water for 240 students and all the staff and their families, even allowing them to generate income through the sale of purified water to nearby locals; in short, one unit has the potential to have massive impact.
Donations of any amount are always appreciated and incredibly useful. Consider that it costs approximately $1 per day to provide one person clean drinking water -- that's a cost of about $365 for a year's worth of clean water security.
Now imagine an average village of around 500 people. They may be experiencing illness and other detrimental risks due to water quality. One of our ozone units can easily supply the entire village -- and more -- for up to 2 years of constant use. This would mean a donation of around $450 would provide an entire village clean water for two years or more.
The units have easy-to-replace parts for quick, in-the-field repairs, and eradicate a number of deadly diseases and other pathogens, without the use of chemicals or the risk of bacteria or viruses developing a resistance. That's because Ozone (O3) attacks and destroys cell walls of these pests, something that no pathogen can guard against.
Your donation provides people the freedom to live healthier lives through access to clean water and sanitation.

Our state-of-the-art micro-plasma units generate ozone by breaking apart oxygen molecules found in normal air. Ozone is a powerful oxidizing agent and it destroys harmful bacteria and most viruses on contact. We bring the ozone into contact with these pathogens by bubbling it into the water we wish to treat.
In fairly clear water, our unit will purify about 1 liter per minute. If the water is cloudy, we recommend two minutes per liter. The unit may not remove all cloudiness from the water, but it will kill the harmful pathogens. For clearer water in these cases, we recommend combining our system with a sand or gravel filtration system.
We personally coordinate and work with the people serving each location individually, to tailor to their particular needs in the ways that will serve their local community best. In instances where there is no reliable way to access electricity, we also coordinate two different non-powered water filtration options. Yes! The MP-1, while portable, is very efficient in how much water it can safely purify, and often a ready solution is to scale up by providing as many additional MP-1 units as necessary.
We also offer larger units for more robust applications, through the Eden Park Foundation.(https://www.edenparkfoundation.org/)
